I am delighted to announce that I will be showing an installation of my Botanical Structures series at the Artrooms Fair, a curated International Contemporary Art Fair which takes place at Meliã White House, next to Regent’s Park.
Botanical Structures is a body of work created as part of The Ceramic House 2014 Danish project, Fantastic Tales. I made the work during a residency at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Centre in Denmark, using techniques that were new to me at the time, including slip casting porcelain and soda wood firing which resulted in astonishing glaze colours and textures.
I have made several versions of Botanical Structures. The first was a commission for a private house in Brighton, the second, Botanical Structures II, was exhibited at the Regency Townhouse as part of the Brighton Festival 2014; Botanical Structures III (soda wood fired) was part of Fantastic Tales at The Ceramic House and Botanical Structures IV was a solo show at Rønne Library for the Danish Biennial European Ceramic Context 2014 on the island of Bornholm. Since then, I have continued to make installations for private homes and gardens and also sell them mounted on perspex.
